• Hi all.
I was wondering whether anyone would be able to tell me how exactly you remove the upload cap? whenever I try to upload a file over 2mb, I get this error message.

‘This file is to big. Your php.ini upload_max_filesize is 2M’

Is there any way of changing this? As I really need that cap taken off.

Also, sorry if this has been asked before, I was upable to find any answers when searching.
    Thanks.

  • That’s your host’s cap not a WP cap.
On some hosts you can edit the mentioned php.ini file – on other hosts you have to ask your host company to do it.

    Thank you for the help.
I’ve just put a support ticket into Bluehost to see if they are able to do it.
Where exactly would I look to change this file? I’m hosting on Bluehost.
    Thanks. ??

What about searching, reading their support forums, knowledge base etc.?

We are not here to replace BH’s support.

If you need something to search for in their systems, then these are keywords you can look for: upload_max_filesize and post_max_size. The smaller of those two controls how big a file you can upload. Both need to be increased to enable larger uploads.

Just expanding on Otto’s excellent advice. The file you are looking for should be called php.ini and within it there should be the lines Otto42 mentioned. Both of those will need to be increased.
