How do I remove the gap between the content and footer?

You could try placing the footer div outside of the content div to start with…

No – I looked at your site. Code out of context isn’t much use. Try adding a wrapper div around both content & footer and adding the white background to the wrapper rather than the content.

After editing the code, everything works fine except I still cannot attach the footer to the bottom…!!! What did i miss?

You could start by putting every other div within the container element or a wrapper.
