I can’t seem to remove the basic widgets from my front page in the 2010 theme..
    How do you do It?

I tried using the widgets panel in the dashboard.
It says there is nothing in there even though there is.
    (search, meta, latest posts)
    I want it out!

So I have to make my own home page and take it out there.
Then specify that that page is my default home page, right?

Why does WordPress make it so difficult to remove these widgets?
Seems like lots of users have issue with the fact that it’s so difficult to do.
Why cant you just hit delete and be done with it?

Try adding an empty Text widget to your sidebar.

    Thanks.
    I’ll try it.

    It worked.
Putting in a blank text widget made all the other unwanted widgets go away.

    So why does this work?

Those unwanted widgets show if you have not added any of your own .

The moment you added only that text widget; it showed what YOU wanted and not the default unwanted ones.

That is not true!! I added my own widgets and that stupid META will NOT go away. What is this sidebar hard code lingo that you speak of and where can I find it (plain english not geek speak)? HELP PLEASE!!
