    I’ve been experimenting with JanRain Engage but as I find the layout intrusive I decided to disable it for the time being.

    Trouble is, deactivating or even deleting the plugin still leaves the JanRain login dialog active – how do I remove the code?

    I have also tried deleting my account at JanRain.com and that also fails (by the way the Captcha is extremely difficult to interpret)

    OK, after some searching I figured it out.

    I have a plugin (Simple Press) with a large number of setting options and I had enabled rpx support.

    Thanks for posting this! I have wasted 2 days trying to get rid of RPX, I deleted and reinstalled WordPress, you name it, finally, decided to look and see if anyone else had the problem, thanks again for posting what happened to you and what you did, I bet it will help others as well.

    I have a bit to add to this, the reason I was deleting Janrain, is because it added a login box under my footer, because I have a login link in my footer. Deactivating (RPX) Janrain, got rid of that, but it took your solution, to get rid of the rest!

    I had the same issue. Why on earth would it add this huge login box under my footer and not offer any means to disable it.

    I am having an issue where after de-activating the plugin and deleting it from my server it still loads some JS files in the footer. I do have Simple Press installed but the option to for RPX is disabled.

    These files are:

    https://static.rpxnow.com/js/lib/rpx.js

    <script>
    var rpxJsHost = (("https:" == document.location.protocol) ? "https://" : "https://static.");
    document.write(unescape("%3Cscript src='" + rpxJsHost +
    "rpxnow.com/js/lib/rpx.js' type='text/javascript'%3E%3C/script%3E"));
    </script>
    <script>
    RPXNOW.overlay = true;
    RPXNOW.language_preference = 'en';
    </script>
