Hello. How do I remove a canonical url on individual pages?

I found a similar post on here but it was closed due to inactivity.

    Thanks!

    Hello,

    Thanks for reaching out.

You can edit the canonical URL in the advanced tab of the Yoast SEO metabox under the default WordPress content editor.

If the field is left blank, Yoast SEO generates a self-referencing canonical URL. The plugin does this for you, everywhere on your site – single posts and pages, homepages, category archives, tag archives, date archives, author archives, etc. If you want to learn more about why we use self-canonical, please refer to this article.

@maybellyne thanks for your reply! Google says not to use both rel=canonical AND noindex tags since this can send mixed signals. So I’m wondering how I can remove the canonical tags, not modify.

    Is that possible within Yoast?

@chrimbus we have a developer filter of wpseo_canonical that allows you to change the output of the canonical URL programmatically. You can find examples of its usage here.
