• I think I’ve lost my database.

Scenario: This is a local install.

    Site working fine.
Exporting wordpress and database as I go.
However, exporting database through phpmyadmin with “All” databases selected.
That means the exported file—I think—contains the “information_schema” and “mysql” databases as well.

    I have a new machine.
After a fresh install of WP and WAMP on the new machine, I tried to “import” the saved exported database file into the new install. Well, it didn’t work, so I go back to the old machine and open phpmyadmin in WAMP, thinking I will try exporting just the wordpress database.

    Then I see it:
“Information_schema” and “mysql” databases are there; my wordpress database is not listed, and when I try to open my site, I get the dreaded “Can’t Select Database” white screen.

I have no idea how this happened.
The only thing I did on the existing install was export the database backup to a USB drive using phpmyadmin.

I restored to a restore point set two weeks before.
Still, my database doesn’t show up in phpmyadmin.

Can someone please help me with this?
    1. Why does System Restore not include the WAMP database?
    2. Where does the actual wordpress site database live?
    3. Can I just find it and copy it back where it belongs?
    4. If not, how can I recover my database?

Keep in mind, all my exported database files have “all” databases included in them, not just the wordpress database. I thought that’s what you are suppose to do when backing up using the phpmyadmin export tool.
