• I’m moving my blog from WP.com to my own domain. I exported posts, comments, etc. and imported into the new blog successfully. Then I did some work on the new blog. I need to import again, since there have been new posts and comments. I understand re-importing will NOT overwrite the posts and comments that are already in my DB. That’s no good.

How do I either (1) clear out just posts and comments or (2) import again with “overwrite” option?

    Thanks.

  • you will need to “empty” the wp_posts table through phpmyadmin
    or
    delete them all manually

Thanks, Samboll. If I do that, the posts will be OK, but won’t the comments, pages, etc. be duplicated? I think so, but I’m not sure.

unless something has changed all of that is in the one table

I’ll look at one of my installs to be sure

edit – btw, you could just save whatever you modified – drop the install – reinstall and import – probably quicker

ok – I’m full of crap on the db thing – sorry

    No worries. Thanks.

I am also looking for a way to import and overwrite all pages/posts with any carrying the same page/post id.
Problem with dropping them from phpMyAdmin is that not all are to be updated so not all to be dropped.
