• Within the last few days posts authored by someone other than myself have been appearing on my blog (I assume the poster is a ‘bot’). I have disabled post-by-mail and I change passwords every day (using WP’s “generate password” facility on the “users/your profile” page under account management). Still, the posts keep coming.

So, what do I need to do to prevent posts by persons other than myself?

(FYI, the posts are advertisements for editing and thesis writing services and seem to be related to guru.com).

    Thanks, in advance
[edit] The author of these unwanted posts is listed as myself so I’m assuming the entity making the post has access to my login credentials and no matter how often I change them, the entity is able to pass the credential check and make the post.)

How Do I Prevent Others From Creating Posts?

others cannot, unless YOU give them role and capabilities of doing so.

This is not a WP’s default behavior.

Try scanning your site for malware: https://sitecheck.sucuri.net/

Thank you, Tara. I will scan my site as you suggest.

Just, FYI, I am the only user. No one else is registered on my site and therefore no one other than myself [can] have the theme/role capabilities you infer.

Thanks again, I will run the check and report back its result.

This Exploit Scanner plugin can also help detect any exploit.

    Other things you should do:

Change passwords for all users, especially Administrators and Editors.
If you upload files to your site via FTP, change your FTP password.
Re-install the latest version of WordPress.
Make sure all of your plugins and themes are up-to-date.
    Update your security keys.
