• Is there an option so I can organize my catgergories and links by alphabetical order or better yet anyway I want? I don’t see options available. Why was this left out? Do I have to install a mod?

  • The Link manager controls the order of links within categories.
As yet, there is no elegant way of ordering link categories themselves (default by alphabet are they not ?), but putting spaces before a category name will move it up.
So, to display a category at the top, when entering it’s name, put a space before it’s name when you enter it.
To display one of top of that, use 2 spaces, etc ……
The spaces do not affect how the cat name is displayed.
While a mod *may* be useful in this area, I quite like this way of doing things because although it looks odd to do, it does give total control over what goes where.

Why do I get links in cat. 1 listed in reverse order 4,3,2,1 and in Cat. 2 they are listed 1,2,3,4 ?
Nothing I do seems to reverse either one?
    Help!
Is there also a way to list only links from 1 or 2 categories?
The wp_get_links_list functions as listed in the wiki are foriegn language to me! Is there a reasonable explanation somehwere?
    Thanks!

Well as I understand it this can’t be automated but it can be done manually. You would need to use php to call link categories by id. So you would need to set the categories up first and you would lose the functionality of just being able to add a new one through admin. I do not know much about php but I do know this is very achievable and it might be a very popular hack. What we need now is a php guru?

I have had *gasp* an idea. I am going to try and implement it on my blog.

Check out my *Sorted Categories* Category on my blog.

To display links from only one or two cats (and I must say I havent seen the benefit of it yet) I would set the whole of links to display none. Then I would override that for my two selected cats using the cat selector. As to which see the article on this very subject on my blog. WordPress CSS Selectors

@ tgiff you are remembering to save changes?

    from tgriff:
the space thing does just the trick for me!
Should probably place this in the tutorial for WordPress
Using 1.2.2 this is the way to do it
Any idea if there will be a built in way to organize categories down the line?
    Thanks Root!
