How do I move the featured titles away from image??????

I need to move the title that seems to be embedded in the front page top images. I’m running a news/magazine site and do not wish to have the large title clouding the image area. I need a reply asap please. I want to completely move the title up above the image, away from inside the image, and I want to remove the background of the title as well so that it stands on it own. Thanks!
