How do I Manage Content on my Home.php Page ?

Hi – Just created a Home.php page such that I may have an entirely different lay out from the rest of the site and have discovered that there is no obvious way to manage text or images other than by hard coding which defeats the purpose of having an CMS and does not help my users.

What is the correct approach ? I could put the code for the blog posts in, but my site is not a blog, it is dynamic website.
