How do i make my blog no-follow again?

  • A while back I changed my blog to do-follow so I could spread the link love. Now I’m receiving a lot of spam and I’d like to change it back to no-follow in hopes of deterring spammers. I can’t figure out how to do this, any tips?

    Scoured the web, can’t find one post about adding the no-follow attribute back into the blog.

    Most dofollow blogs are running a plugin to take care of that — have you checked your plugins? Which ones are you running?

    I feel for you. I tried the dofollow thing for quite a while a few years ago. Found it to be a marvelous way to get listed on sites and attracted thousands of spammers. Now, years later, I’m still showing up on those dang lists and still getting those silly spammers (oh sorry, “PR/SEO Experts”) </bitter>

    Thanks Chris, yes it’s frustrating that it comes back to bite you in the rear years later. I didn’t have any dofollow plugins running but i did just install a plugin that made everything no-follow.

    Another place to check would might be your theme’s functions.php file. Perhaps you added something there?

    all I have in my functions file is:

    <?php
    require_once(TEMPLATEPATH . ‘/library/pp-options.php’);
    require_once(TEMPLATEPATH . ‘/library/widgets.php’);
    ?>

    I don’t think those do anything, but I may be missing something
