• Right now, when someone types in my website URL, it goes to WP’s default page. I’ve set up a custom home page and used the permalink www…../home. But, I want that to be the page that people see when they type in my web address.

How do I make that happen?

  • If you go into Settings >> Reading – and make sure that the home page is selected as your “front page”

That should be all you need to do

    Innuvo,

I have WP 4.01, and when I got into settings, reading, there is no option to select my home page as my front page. I’ve copied all of the settings under “Reading Setting” below.

    Any other ideas?

Make sure that you have at least one page set up and one post set up, both published and the option should appear.

    Innuvo,

THANK YOU!!!!! I’m constructing my website, so all of my pages were unpublished and private, which is why the option to set a front page was not coming up.

You sound like you really know your way around WordPress. Do you have any recommendations for a good tutorial program? There are hundreds out there, I know, but as a newbie, I’m not sure which is the best. And, the fact that there’s a new edition of Word Press seems to complicate things, as most tutorials are based on earlier editions of Word Press.

    Thanks again!

Completely forgot to get back to you on this @skydancer1

To be honest, you are right, there are lots out there. I wont plug myself as I got told off for that last time haha, but I am in the process of developing tutorials based on WordPress 4.1.

What i will say is keep reading through these forums, and if you have a question, ask. There are lots of helpful people here, and you can always read through other topics to try and get an idea of what is going on.

    Good luck

Thanks so much for your advice, Innuvo.

Perhaps the forum moderators might think about allowing people at least to post a signature that includes a website?

People who take the time to offer helpful advice should be allowed to at least link to their professional sites IMHO.
