How do I link my Google page with my website?

I’m trying to link my Google+ Community page to my website.

I followed the instructions on Google+ to add a line of code to the home page (I put it in a Text Widget on the sidebar):

Google+ doesn’t seem to be aware the code is there: I’ve clicked “Test Website” several times (tried inserting it in a text widget by itself, at the foot of a text widget already in use, adding an Icon button to link the homepage to google+) and each time get the same reaction:

“Check that the line of code has been added to your site’s homepage and that the modified homepage is live on your site. Then try testing again.”
