I have purchased a plugin. For the most part it works real well for what we need. But there is some terminology that just does not fit and there is not an option to change how it reads. I started to read about editing a plugin but managed to get about 3 paragraphs in and realized I have no clue what most of this stuff is. I am TOOOOO old and stupid to learn this stuff. That being said, I can follow directions extremity well. The issue is that most help stuff is written for those who understand about 80 percent of what they are talking about. I am starting at 10% (and that is being generous).

So are there any YouTube videos on this or is there someone out there who will give me an email addy so I can send a copy of the plug in and some screen shots of what I need fixed.
    Please.

  • The easy anser to “How do I learn to edit a plugin?” is…

    You don’t!

There’s a few reasons for this, but the main one is that if you edit a plugin (or a theme) and it gets updated in the future, everything that you’ve changd gets wiped out and you have to od it all again. On every update.

With that in mind, please don’t do anything that way.

What can be done to change what a plugin does or what’s output depends 100% on the plugins author and what they’ve allowed for in that plugin. If you want to change some text or out put, there may be filters attached to those areas that let you change them. Ther also may not be. Again, that’s completely up to the plugins author with what they have added in.

The best answer that anyone here can give you is that it would be best to go back to the plugins author or company that you purchased of from and ask for support from them. They will be able to tell you if what you want to do can, or can’t be done. If asked there’s also a chance that if what you want can’t be done now, they might be able to add soemthing to allow that in a future version.
