How do I keep Google from indexing just one post?

  • Hi there,

    I am running actually WP 2.1.1 (not 2.1.3). Anyway, my site sells a software download. After people finish their purchase, they get redirected to a download page that isn’t accessible directly from anywhere else on the site. Actually, the download page is a post (the blog is disabled and all pages are only accessible from the menu; I’m using WP more as a lightweight CMS than a blog in this case).

    Unfortunately Google found the post that no one is supposed to find and has decided to index it for the universe to see. How do I get them to skip that page and not index it and pretend it doesn’t exist and never did???? Aaack!

  • I’d do it by adding in a block to your robots.txt file.

    User-agent: Googlebot
    Disallow: /the-page-that-i-want-blocked/
