• The Health Check plugin says:
“The optional module, libsodium, is not installer, or has been disabled.”

But how do I install/enable libsodium. I don’t know where to find it, and it doesn’t appear under Plugins. Please note (if it’s not already obvious ?? that I’m a novice.

That’s a server module, so you’ll get in touch with your hosting provider’s support and ask them to make sure that libsodium is installed on your server.

If you’re managing your own server, you’ll find installation instructions at https://download.libsodium.org/doc/installation

I have no idea why the Health Check plugin would check for the PHP sodium extension since it wasn’t bundled into PHP until the 7.2 branch, and WordPress doesn’t use it. Anyway, the important word in the message is optional. You can safely ignore the message, though it probably wouldn’t hurt to have libsodium installed and the PHP sodium extension enabled since some non-WP PHP applications support Argon2 hashing.

WordPress 5.2 now uses sodium / sodium_compat to check file signatures…
