• Hi!

I have a site with about 250 pages that are output in menu powered by Ubermenu. Needles to say, my backend is sloooow… So what do I do? I have two different menus, i can covert the pages to post with two different categories if necessary. Best would be to have a menu where posts/pages auto outputs in the meny, alphabetically sorted.

What would my best bet be here?

  • Hi Jerry,

I’ve got a few solutions for you to check out:

    1. Install the Faster Appearance > Menus Plugin. This fixes a bottleneck in the core WordPress Menu admin JS (see Speeding up the Appearance > Menus Screen in WordPress 3.6 / 3.7 / 3.8 / 3.9 for full details). This should speed up your admin considerably, though even with this, 250 menu items will likely cause a bit of a slow down.

    2. UberMenu 3 is almost ready for release, and includes a new feature called “Menu Segments”. This allows you to break your menu up into more manageable chunks, and with fewer menu items per screen your admin will run faster.

    3. UberMenu 3 also offers “Dynamic Items” functionality, which means you can configure a single menu item which will automatically output all matching menu items (for example, Posts in Category X by author Y, sorted by title).

If you want to get early access to UberMenu 3, there is currently a release candidate available to customers for testing in the Support Forum

    Hope that helps! ??

    Chris
