How do I get to my admin page for the first time?

    I have installed WP and now see a generic index.php when I key in my site url. But.. how do I get to the log in, admin, everything else? I’m looking in the wp-admin folder, is it one of those php files? Heeeeeelllllppp! (Thanks too)

    if you are trying to login it should be https://yoursite.com/wp-admin/

    Here is what I found for how to get to it.. the admin folder.. but.. no index or default page to open this way. My blog main page doesn’t have a link to the admin page.

    Administration panels (located at https://your-wordpress-url/wp-admin/) are where you control the behind-the-scenes operations of your site. Common to all of the panels is a heading which shows the name of your blog, a link to your blog’s main page, a link to Sign Out, and a link to your profile (My Profile}.

    Nope, nothing opens by going to the wp-admin folder

    Going to wp-admin/admin.php gives me a 404 error..

    Is your wordpress in a sub directory? If it is it should be something like…yoursite.com/wordpress/wp-admin (or whatever your sub directory name is)
    What is your site url?

    I noticed that I have both www and a public_html folders – which one is the real blog folder? Thanks very much, Anne

    I changed the WP location from subdirectory to root directory this afternoon by moving the files from website.com/blog/ to website.com/. Maybe this hosed something? Thanks again

    When I go to wp-admin, the browser tries to go to a subfolder that no longer exists. truckeedonnerphotos.com/blog/wp-admin instead of truckeedonnerphotos.com/wp-admin

    I’m deleting everything and re-installing.
