How do I get a widget on home page?

    How can I get my text widget to display on my home page? I don’t understand what it means when I go to my home page in the customize menu under widgets: “There are no widget areas currently rendered in the preview. Navigate in the preview to a template that makes use of a widget area in order to access its widgets here.”

    It doesn’t display on the home page because the home page does not have a sidebar. The home page has the special format page where you can use the different sections to set it up. You’ll have to use the logo image in the home page by using the
