• Hi can someone look at my blog https://www.marketingsciencetechnology.info and tell me how I can structure the site so the ‘News’ page is the same structure as ‘Articles’. When I write a post it automatically goes to the News page, which is fine. But I need the choice of posting to either News or the ‘Articles’ page. How do I set that up?

    Thanks for any advice.

    Peter

  • When I click on your articles Page, I’m sent to a page, not posts. Your news pieces are blog posts, whilst your articles section (which is currently empty) will have static content.

You need to decide how you want your site to work. Do you want to have ongoing articles and news pieces? If so, then both should consist of posts and categorized as such.

Pages are normally used for content that doesn’t change often, like contact or about.

Thats right Christine I want both areas to consist of posts but I am unable to figure out what changes I need to make to the ‘articles’ section so that it behaves the same as the ‘news’ section. Once someone explains that to me so I can make the necessary changes, I will then need to know how, when I write a post, I can choose between the ‘news’ and the ‘articles’ area for the post to appear on.
Thanks in advance for your help.

What you should do is create 2 categories, News and Articles.
When you write posts, you can then assign them to news or articles.

Then in your navigation menu, create 2 new tabs, for News and articles, look near the bottom below the pages, you will see the two categories, just add them to your menu.

Now, by default, your home page will be set to the blog home page, so it will display ALL posts. If you don’t want that, I would suggest that you create a Page called home and set it as your home page. Go to settings > readings — select static page for home page.
