How do I download a modified theme so that I can use it again for another site?

  • I have been using the cutline theme and have made quite a few modifications to it. I really do enjoy the changes that i’ve made and I want to use that some theme +mods for another site.

    Is there anyway to download the complete theme so that I can simply upload it to another site?

    Any ideas?

  • Use your ftp client to copy the theme from your server to a directory on your local computer.

    thanks for the note! sounds easy enough, but will i be able to install that theme as would any other and have it prepopulated with all of the saved info?? will my personal data not be stored there also?

    Ultimately, I would like to offer a theme for free to anyone that wants it and im building it upon an existing theme..

    here’s some tips on releasing themes to the public.

    If you just copy the theme files and put them in a zip archive, others can use the theme. The only stuff included is whatever you have coded into the theme. If you’ve coded personal stuff into the theme it will be saved….
