how do i display specific posts in a widget

  • hi
    I know there are bunch of plugins to display certain categories of posts, but if i want to display a specific post in a sidebar, or widget area how do I do that? is there a plugin for it?

    sorry, but that’s a very amateur way of doing it
    clearly there must be a better option, where i could just enter a post id, enter how many words to display ,and whether to have a “read more” button

    any other ideas? there seems like a few plugins to display categories of posts, i only wish there was something to display an individual post
