Anyone know why a WordPress site automatically includes “My new WordPress website” as a tagline (which then appears in a Google search result)? Is this a Google issue or a WordPress issue? If WordPress, how do I resolve it? It overrides the tagline that we need to use (for branding purposes) and which I’ve designated in every relevant WP setting. What’s the point of even offering a “tagline” option in any WP setting if it’s not going to be able to be used. It’s embarrassing to have this override reveal for an eCommerce site. It undermines our ability to assert credibilty. We noticed that we’re not the only ones to suffer from this. A Google search for “My new WordPress website” reveals lots of others who’ve been highjacked. We’re not in business to promote WordPress so we’d like to get it removed as quickly as possible. Any insight is appreciated!

Perform a search for “divineinmate.com” (not “divine inmate” nor use of “https://www”). Simply, “divineinmate.com”.

What’s further interesting/odd, is that in the body of the search result, there appears titles of posts that are either drafts or deleted.

Have you been to Google Webmaster Tools to request a reindex of the site? WP is not showing that line anywhere on your site, but it may have been there when Google first noticed .it.

I haven’t done that. Is it your opinion that this would be my last resort to resolve the issue before deciding to migrate to another platform?

This is not a WordPress problem. It’s not a “last resort”. It’s contacting the right party. Google has bad info, so you have to tell Webmaster Tools there to clean it up.
