how do I delete Akismet?

    Hi!

    How do I delete Akismet? I had previously deleted it because I didn’t need it, and now it has reappeared in my dashboard saying it needs to be updated! I tried to delete it and got the following error message:

    “Plugin could not be deleted due to an error: Could not fully remove the plugin(s) akismet/akismet.php”

    I tried various combinations of activating, updating, deactivating then deleting, but nothing worked.

    Please advise.

    Hi!

    Ok, so I found out that GoDaddy has added Akismet back on their Managed WordPress sites, so it can’t be deleted.

    FYI, they’ve done the same thing on the default themes (twenty fourteen through sixteen).

    Yuck! But, at least I know what is going on!
