How do I create a limit to quanity ordered?

    Is there a way to put a limit on the quantity of a product ordered? I want to put maximum amount one can order. Is that possible in Flexible Shipping?

    Hi @kristad,
    Thanks for reaching us.

    The free version of the Flexible Shipping Table Rate plugin allows you to calculate the shipping costs based on weight and/or cart total.


    With a Flexible Shipping PRO version, you can set shipping costs based on the products’ quantity which also means that you can set the number of products beyond which the shipping method will not be available for customers on checkout.

    You can check the PRO version on our demo account for free.

    Hi Thanks for the info.

    We only want to ship up to 4 of products at a time. Only have shipping costs up to 4 units. So how can I put 5+ or more not available. Is there a way to put the total number to ship is 4? Thanks again.

    Hi?@kristad,

    You mentioned that you “Only have shipping costs up to 4 units”. Does it mean that you already have some shipping cost set in your store with a flexible shipping table rate plugin as our plugin only allows setting minimum and maximum values for cart total and/or weight.

    If so can you please provide me with a screenshot showing your shipping conditions and shipping rule cost?

    You will find this information in the flexible shipping method configuration window at the bottom.

    I would also like to clarify whether you offer only one product in your store?

    Yes using the Flexible Shipping plugin. I used cart total.

    Only selling one product. A book.

    Thanks for the additional information. First of all please deactivate a flat rate shipping method for this method to work. There should be only a flexible shipping method active. Next please set your flexible shipping method like on the screen below.

    You are selling your book for 10 $ and our plugin takes this amount for calculations.

    Now if you add 5 books or more to the cart you will see No shipping options were found notice in the cart and on checkout page. From this article, you will learn how to change this notice into a custom one, like :
    Sorry! you reached the maximum limit for this product! Please reduce the number of products to 4 items.

    I would recommend installing the Shipping Notices free plugin for customizing the notice.
