How do I change the structure of my Archive page?

  • I have a blog archive page I don’t like.

    It’s just a list of Headlines of each of my former postings.

    What I WANT is this: For each posting, I want a headline followed by the first few lines of text, followed by a […] to indicate that it continues and has a page all its own.

    How do I set up the page to behave like this?
