• Hi
I set up my wordpress site at https://www.pollyannadarling.com/test as I already had an old site running on https://www.pollyannadarling.com and wanted to get the new one fully functional before it went live.

Now I’ve completed the site, I’d like to move it out of the /test directory and into the root directory. All the documentation I have found is about moving the wordpress files OUT of the root directory into a subdirectory (the other way round). Also, from the reading I have done, I believe if I just put the files from the /test directory into the root directory it will stuff up the database somehow. Is this correct?

I realise I am going to have to somehow change all the urls for images and links and am prepared to do that. In the meantime, I have no site!

Please help. I am reasonably technically minded, but need clear instructions.
    Thanks

  • If you move your site from /test to / folder update in General Settings WordPress Address (URL), Site Address (URL) in your website admin dashboard by removing test part from it.
Then move your website files to root
