• Hi,

I have installed a template and there is no longer a Background Tab underneath the Appearances menu to change the background image (I think the template removed it.)

Can anyone tell me another way to put a background image on my site?

(I can follow instructions well enough but don’t have coding knowledge.)

    Thanks and regards,

    Mike

  • Go to file manager on your hosting directory such as “bluehost.com”
Go to the “wpcontent” then “theme”.
Click on the theme your using and you should see a folder called “img”. Inside this folder you will find all the images on your site.
There should be an img called “pagebg.jpg”.
At the top of your page you should see something that says “upload”
click on “upload” to upload your new img to replace the current “pagebg.jpg”.
You can use other file types such as png.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi wirelessonwater,

Thanks for taking the time to help. I followed your instructions. There was no “pagebg.jpg” image so I added one anyway. The background is set to a colour and it’s just stayed the same, nothing has changed?

    Regards,

    Mike

    Hi,

I think I have found a solution with a plugin.

    Thanks for the help,

    Mike

Under your appearance tab, go to EDITOR. In the right column (near the bottom, in the Styles category) click on your stylesheet (style.css). With the stylesheet open, find the “body” section and the “{background ” tag in that section. Might be “background-url:” or “background-color:” or “background-img:”. Update tag accordingly.
