• I must have changed one small thing and I have no idea what I did… I’m trying to center the box in the middle of my webpage but I can’t get it to work for the life of me. (www.designmeasurechange.com) Any suggestions on what I’ve done wrong here?

  • It seems you badly edited the theme. Instead of editing the original theme, you should have created a child theme.
You may download a fresh copy and replace it.

Thanks for your response… Did you mean for that fix to sound like “start over?” If so, that is a devastating blow… I’ve put way too much time into getting it to this point. Isn’t there just some missing code or something that needs to be fixed?

I know it is hard work. But make sure that you never edit an original theme. If you placed the original theme in the child directory, and placed the modified theme as its child theme, you would not have to face this problem. No problem, I too learned many things by committing mistakes like this and learning from such mistakes.

I would also suggest to change your theme because for over two years the theme has not been updated. Most WP experts say that you should not use a theme older that two years.

    Any other problem?

Well, there were a few other problems but I’m not sure they matter at this point if I’m starting all over…

Why would WP experts say not to use an older theme? Sounds to me like you could end up having to change themes every two years… And how do you go about finding a very similar theme? We spent quite a while locating this one that we finally liked, and now we find out that its not a good idea to keep it.

And I should have mentioned that I have no idea what I am doing with this web design (I’ve gotten to this point with just trial and error), which is probably why your first paragraph sounds like code.

Thanks for your help… I really appreciate it.

Why would WP experts say not to use an older theme?

Because an old theme that has never been updated could be using code that is eventually no longer supported by WordPress. A lot has changed over the past 2 years.

Not if you choose a theme that is being actively maintained.
