How do I add footer widgets to my site?

  • Hi
    I’ve just set up a site and I need some help with putting a widget footer bar in place. I have been to Appearance/Widgets and added three widgets to Footer Widget Area 1 and saved them. Then under Appearance/Customize/Footer/Footer Widgets I have selected the second Layout icon to try and add a Footer to the Home page. But nothing has happened: the site won’t update and I don’t know what’s wrong.
