How do I add files to other than default media folder?

Hi,
I want to change a jpg on about me for my technicalspeech theme but I don’t know how to swap out a file at https://yourappworld.com/blog1/wp-content/themes/technical-speech/images/about_avatar.jpg.
How do I place files throughout the directory?
