• I know… the question is asked hundreds of times it seem. I’m so sorry but can someone please help me with the baby steps anyway?

I’m just so new to this. I created a theme and copied the header.php and footer.php file into my theme. Now I want to put a plugin in my theme. I’ve read that I need to create an area for widgets, and I’ve also read that if a plugin is designed for a specific area like header or footer, it will simply show up on a page that uses your theme… it’s not happening with me.

If I want a plugin to show on a page that uses my theme:
1: Do I need to put widget code in a specific area then paste a shortcode in this area?

2: If a plugin does not have a shortcode how do I make it appear in my a theme that I created?

3: Is there a step-by-step tutorial that walks a beginner through the process of adding a plugin to a theme?

I’d really like some help as a beginner but most of the posts I’ve read so far seems to be missing the ‘how to get the plugin to show up in your theme after installing it in WordPress dashboard’ part.

I would really appreciate any help form anyone that can.

    Thanks so much.

This is the first I have heard of doing that, but maybe something here will help:

Thanks, that’s the same set of results I got. I know how to install the plugin in wordpress dashboard but I was hoping to add some functionality to my theme be taking advantage of components that are already made.

I can use a plugin in a page that I create in wordpress using the usual create a page from the dashboard but I want to add it to one of my own themes or templates that I created.
