How create download link to dynamic content in call to action widget

    I’m having a call to action widget where I want the user to be able to download a file when clicking it.

    The file can be a pdf, excel or doc. Edit Call to Widget -> Content -> Link -> Here I click on the dynamic content database icon and choose Internal URL and change the Type to Media.

    The problem is the link goes to mysite.com/media.file.name/ instead of mysite.com/media.file.name.pdf/

    This means that when I’m clicking it I get redirected to a single post page with a download link to my media file. When I add download=”true” to the custom attribute of the link my browser downloads a file called download.html.

    I can solve this by NOT using the dynamic content feature and just add the /wp-content/ path to the file but I don’t want to do that as I’m probably going to change /wp-content/ to something else.

    What am I doing wrong here?
