How postings, notifications, and comments are displayed in the app and via email
-
The graphical user interface on the Jetpack iPhone app and for email postings, notifications, and comments need tons of improvement.
Limited character space is available in an email regarding or summary line and associated with each row in the Jetpack app. The text included needs to be succinct and valuable, far more so than they are now.
I don’t necessarily need to be immediately reminded (to begin with) of the name of the blog/newsletter/publication in postings, notifications, and comments, nor do I need to know who (the username) commented (at least to begin with, to get me interested and create a willingness within me to engage).
I would find tons more value, especially given the limited character space and screen space on iPhone (using the Jetpack app), in a posting, notification, and comment is a few keywords (or summary) of the original topic and a few keywords (or summary) of the posting, notification, or comment.
If this were done properly, I believe it would create more opportunities to engage and even post responses/reactions/comments and make the entire Jetpack experience more “social” and/or interactive. Real “conversations” will be had. I interact very little in the Jetpack app now, so anything has got to be better than the current set-up/format. This seems like such a simple fix that could be made.
I have specifically asked this same question/made this recommendation in the Contact Us section of the Marginal Revolution blog (hosted by Feedbiltz….Whoops, I mentioned another platform. The Feedblitz formatting is slightly better than the Jetpack formatting. I use that platform more frequently even though it’s dated and has few other convenient features.) Still, Marginal Revolution (or, for that matter, all content developers) is beholden to the host’s shortcomings, formatting, and repetition of non-useful information when posting, receiving notifications, and commenting.
