The graphical user interface on the Jetpack iPhone app and for email postings, notifications, and comments need tons of improvement.

Limited character space is available in an email regarding or summary line and associated with each row in the Jetpack app. The text included needs to be succinct and valuable, far more so than they are now.

I don’t necessarily need to be immediately reminded (to begin with) of the name of the blog/newsletter/publication in postings, notifications, and comments, nor do I need to know who (the username) commented (at least to begin with, to get me interested and create a willingness within me to engage).

I would find tons more value, especially given the limited character space and screen space on iPhone (using the Jetpack app), in a posting, notification, and comment is a few keywords (or summary) of the original topic and a few keywords (or summary) of the posting, notification, or comment.

If this were done properly, I believe it would create more opportunities to engage and even post responses/reactions/comments and make the entire Jetpack experience more “social” and/or interactive. Real “conversations” will be had. I interact very little in the Jetpack app now, so anything has got to be better than the current set-up/format. This seems like such a simple fix that could be made.

I have specifically asked this same question/made this recommendation in the Contact Us section of the Marginal Revolution blog (hosted by Feedbiltz….Whoops, I mentioned another platform. The Feedblitz formatting is slightly better than the Jetpack formatting. I use that platform more frequently even though it’s dated and has few other convenient features.) Still, Marginal Revolution (or, for that matter, all content developers) is beholden to the host’s shortcomings, formatting, and repetition of non-useful information when posting, receiving notifications, and commenting.

    Hi there, @briancswansonbcs,

Thank you for sharing your feedback on the Jetpack iPhone app and email format. The insights you’ve given regarding the importance of succinct and valuable text in these notifications are valuable.

For your suggestion on optimizing the character space in emails and the app for more engaging content, we strive for continuous improvement. Your idea of focusing on keywords or summaries is interesting and could definitely help enhance user engagement. We have reported this to our Mobile team so they can look into it.

We appreciate you taking the time to reach out with your recommendation. While I can’t offer an immediate solution, I suggest you keep an eye on our?updates. We constantly work on improving the Jetpack experience based on user feedback like yours.

If you have any more questions or further suggestions, feel free to reply in this thread.

    Thank you!

This is really interesting, thank you! This is something that on-device LLM support could bring to the table, so we’ll explore this as it becomes available in the newer OS updates.

The Feedblitz formatting is slightly better than the Jetpack formatting. I use that platform more frequently even though it’s dated and has few other convenient features

If you have the time, could you post some screenshots of their formatting, along with what’s better in your mind? That would be super valuable for us as we dig into this!

Thanks so much for the feedback –?I really appreciate it!!

    Hi there, @briancswansonbcs,

Do you have updates about that, or can you help us investigate better on the issue you reported? Our Mobile team lead has asked you some questions above, it’d be lovely if you can help us out with that ??

Have received no questions from the WordPress mobile team as of August 27, 2024 at 10:05 am US Pacific time. Providing screenshots is a waste of my time….believe you can figure it out yourself. Jetpack’s inefficient use of character space is BLATANTLY OBVIOUS to anyone using the app and again (its rampant everywhere in the app), it does nothing to promote interaction…restating initially characters and text that are not useful/wasteful does users absolutely any good, and just ensures your app will not be as popular as it can be…

    Hi there, @briancswansonbcs,

That’s duly noted, thanks. We aim to improve and optimise every aspect of the WordPress mobile experience, so your point about the inefficient use of character space has been noted. The development teams strive to balance the display of necessary information with ease of interaction, and feedback like yours is crucial in this ongoing effort. Screenshots would be way more beneficial for us, but we respect your position on not wanting to share anything else.

I have forwarded your comments to the WordPress mobile team so they can review and consider this when planning future updates. We want to ensure that the app serves its purpose well and enhances user interaction as much as possible.

I am going to mark the thread as closed for now.
