Hi, I’ve searched the forum database and don’t see a good answer to this question.

What are the reasons why a post won’t publish? I have built a site (imawg.ca) for a friend using the Twenty Eleven theme, and all too often, when we write and try to publish either a post or a page, nothing happens and the post (in this case) stays in draft form. It’s as if the “publish” action times out. What can I do to overcome this problem?

If the article is initially a draft, then seems to publish on its’ own later, then this is probably an issue of the time zone not being set correctly.

Go to the wp-admin settings and make sure that the time is accurate; it will show you what time the WP install thinks it is.

The time is correct, and I’ve tried posting both immediately and scheduling it for a few minutes in the future. Neither works. What else might it be?

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

Have you edited the Twenty Eleven theme in any way?

In addition, it saves just fine as a draft.

The plugins solution resolved the problem. I isolated it to EZPZ backup. I haven’t deleted it because it’s still a useful program, but we’ll only activate it briefly when we have to do backups. Thanks for your help!

    Try this backup plugin instead:
