How can I set up Homepage Slider?

I have tried to set up a slide show on the front page of my site using the instructions above but the second image appears underneath the first main image can you advise what I’m doing wrong please?

I am also having problems setting up the Homepage slider. I do not have a header image and have followed the directions posted on the website. Can someone please advise me?
