how can i select meta_key NOT empty?

  • while i can select for meta_key=”special_order” with a meta_value=”1″
    (see https://bostoncamerata.org/shop/by-special-order/)
    i need to select for a meta_key that is NOT null/empty
    i tried taxonomy=”digital_download_url” tax_operator=”NOT IN” (tax_term = empty is default) but no joy:-\ i assume that’s because my meta_keys are custom fields, so is this something i’ll need to write an extension for?

    i’ve worked-around by adding a boolean field in addition to the url field, offensive as duplication of data is;-}
