NextGen is killing my resource usage. I have read through old support posts, but haven’t found anything recent.

I only use NextGen Gallery to Add Galleries. I like the to organize my images using your plugin. I don’t display my images on my website using your lightboxes or albums.
I create my Nextgen Gallery and then call the gallery by ID using a premium lightbox (which runs efficient scripts).

How can I modify the NextGen plugin files so they lighten up the load on my server? Is there a way to disable some scripts/features? There are soooo many scripts this plugin is using.

I’ve run tests and it is clear that NextGen is the culprit.

Using a stable/solid premium theme, latest wordpress & Nextgen version.

ANy assistance would be appreciated, thank you

@justinta – Have you looked at our latest public beta? We have made many improvements to the script loading routines which may help your particular situation.

    Hi Cais,
thanks for the beta info & link. I have loaded it on a test site, with attempts to mimic my live site. It seems to work fine. I can’t tell if the resource usage is decreased since the test site doesn’t get any traffic. The resource usage is the issue on my live site.

But, my big question since it is STRESSED NOT TO USE ON LIVE sites. How does this beta help me on my live site that is having the resource issues because of the non-beta Nextgen ?

    Thoughts, recommendations?

@justinta – We always use that “disclaimer” so people are aware (as much as possible) that they are using a beta version of the plugin. Installing it on a “live” site may carry some risk (which can be said for any “beta” application) so we recommend not to as a precaution.

As is, there is currently very little in difference from that beta and the version we are currently scheduling for release (hopefully later this week).

    – Cais.
