How can i modiy the_date to "group" by month instead of day?

  • Currently the_date will show the latest date of the post, and wont show for the older posts also posted on that date.

    How can i change this to group posts by month?

    So instead of:
    July 10th
    Title 1
    Tile 2

    July 12th
    Title 3
    Title 4

    It would display as:
    July
    Title 1
    Title 2
    Title 3
    Title 4

    Just to be clear, simply changing the_date to show the month does not affect its sort. It’ll still group them by day.
