    Hi,

I’m testing the plugin in order to install it on my live site, and I’m wondering how to make it GDPR compliant. You know, if we ask for name and email, we need user to mark consent for their data to be stored in our website.

Could you please make it compliant?

    Thanks,
    Marta

We can look at adding a checkbox of some kind in the future. Right now we’re focused solely on bugfixes. But once we get those all sorted, we can take a look at adding some features like this.

You could also add some sort of note into the page just below that says something like “by submitting this form you agree that the submitted information will be stored on this website and may be displayed publicly.” I’m not a lawyer (and this is not legal advice), but my understanding is that something like this could be GDPR compliant, since they have to click the submit button to agree. Most solutions are going the ultra-safe route of having a checkbox. But something like this might work.

    Hi,

No… To be GDPR compliant, besides clicking the submit button, they need to check a box with a text saying the have read the Privacy Policy and accept their data to be stored and managed.

For now, I’m not asking the email and saying that I will only store their name, which can be a nickname or whatever.

But even that, it’s not GDPR compliant. I would recommend to try to prioritize GDPR compliancy, as this is something that we all need to fullfill, not only European… as any site receive European visitors.

Hi @mmpineda, I’m not lawyer, so I won’t debate whether it is or not. That was my understanding.

We don’t have any plans at this time to add that. We’re a small company with limited budget and developer resources. If you’d like us to prioritize this, feel free to make a significant donation.

I don’t think we can discuss details here, but if you’d like to contact us directly via our website for more details, please do: https://starfish.reviews/contact/

    Thank you for your reply.

I would consider donating, but it doesn’t seeem that my users are too interested in sending me feedback though a form anyway. I’m just starting… So, I don’t have that much feedback to receive, and I do zero money with this at the moment. I only pay. I hope that changes in the future. ??

But I understand you and I thank you for this plugin. I will be patient, both with my visitors and with your developement.

    Kind regards,
    Marta
