• How can I make it so when I type a new entry, and accidentally hit back, when I click forward again, its all still there?

If you go to the quick reply box and type, you can click back on your browser, and when you click forward, it is still there.

I just lost a huge journal because I accidentally hit the back button, and I’d love to be able to fix it for future incidents.

  • I believe that is a browser issue. I never have any problems with that happening in any form fields in FF. I just tried it on my blog and it worked fine too.

Well, I do it the old fashioned way. I type my stuff in my Word Processor, with all of the quote mark and apostrophe mark changing auto-functions turned off, save it there, spell check and edit there, and then when it’s ready for posting, copy and paste it in to the post textarea.

You can type it into a plain text editor, too, skipping the Word Processing buggies, which can cause nightmares if you try to do code in them.

For long missives, it’s the only way. My word processing program does auto backups every 10 minutes (I figure I can live with 10 minutes worth of lost work) and then I remember to hit the Cntrl+Save button frequenly, when worried. Then it’s a copy and paste and ready to go. I like the spell-checking capability of the word processing programs, too.

If you use a fairly recent version of WordPerfect, you can set it to write totally “vanilla” text, no formatting buggies, and you can also have it output decent XML.

Mostly for longer stuff though, I use wordpad or notepad2, whichever happens to be open….

Darn, my secret is out….I adore the other WP – WordPerfect.

Heh…. I CAN use word, but I am NOT happy if I have to…. I’ve used WP since version 2.0 (yup, DOS….)

Me…I think it was 1.2 or 1.4….it’s just been too long. Back when they were the only thing in Utah except for the Mormons….old days.

I’m using the same browser when i try it in wordpress and on my forum, but wordpress doesn’t save.

what browser are you guys using to get it to stay?

FF 1.0.2, or Opera 7.23. No IE, not ever….
