    – is there footer.php file in your theme’s directory? look for footer links in there.

    – If not, please contact its developers. You’ll be more likely to find a good answer from them, for they have the access to its code. I’m a really new beginner at WordPress. I have no idea how to access the site’s files or anything, and how do I contact the developers? Which developers are you referring to, the themes developer or WordPress developers?

It looks like you are talking about the widgetised areas in your footer.

This is really easy to change without any coding required.

WordPress widgets were originally created to provide a simple and easy-to-use way of giving design and structure control of the WordPress theme to the user. Widgets can be easily dragged and dropped into a specific widget area. You can find the list of available widgets and widget areas by going to the Appearance ? Widgets section in your WordPress dashboard.

In OP, you said “The theme i’m currently using is go daddy bold stripe”.
Well, then, based on your description, “go daddy” could be the developer. If they are not, then you need to find out who the developer is.

@collin Mcdermott There’s nothing there in terms of widgets/ It’s part of the site itself, its the footer links at the bottom of the page that i’m trying to change

    Hi,

I can say with 100% certainty, they are widgets.

Widgets are part of the site.

    Try following these instructions please:

You can find the list of available widgets and widget areas by going to the Appearance ? Widgets section in your WordPress dashboard.

Then try and drag and drop widgets, move around the default ones etc.

Here is a video tutorial, hopefully it will help:

I know how the widgets work, all I want to know is how I can remove some of the footer links and such, I can’t find the option to do that anywhere. There’s no widgets in the footer area in appearance > widgets.

Is there a widget area in the footer? Your theme may be hard-coded to display those links if there are no widgets assigned to the footer. Since we don’t have access to your theme, though, there’s no way for any of us to be sure, though.

Right now it is using the default widgets.

In the widgets area, you need to add some widgets and configure them.

Once you add your own widgets, you will overwrite the defaults.

Look, here;s a screenshot of what it shows on my appearanace > widgets. Look under footer widgets, there’s nothing there. https://imgur.com/HrJ48JF

Yes, I understand that. Can you please confirm you have followed my instructions?

Ok, which widgets should i add exactly and to where? I’m still a beginner so don’t treat me like an average joe wordpress user.

On the left handside, drag and drop some widgets over to the “Footer Widgets” box.

Some good ones (personally – it comes down to taste) are: Recent Posts, Categories, Calendar… Contact Forms are good also…

So when I drop some widgets over, what happens then? How will I be able to change what links appear in the footer or not? I still want pages like home, contact us, support us, tutorials and stuff to appear, just not all those links there.
