Is there an option with which I can uninstall YARPP with all settings in the database, or are the database entries deleted when YARPP is uninstalled from WordPress? Thanks very much

  • Due to the developer of YARPP trying to focus on fixing the vulnerability discovered in their plugin, thought I’d step in and try to help you with an answer to your question… hoping that neither of you mind.

@detoris You can Deactivate and Delete the YARPP plugin and then simply optimize your database with a plugin such as WP Optimize, which SHOULD be done on a regular basis anyway.

DO backup your entire website BEFORE using an optimizer plugin so that should worse come to worse you will have a means of restoring your website.

    Hope you find this helpful.

Hello Trish, thank you very much for the help. From what I understand, these optimization tools can clean the gaps in tables and remove junk. But can these tools really recognize that a plugin like YARPP is no longer installed and then really delete its entries or tables?

Btw: Hopefully the programmer will close the security gap in a timely manner.

@trible thank you for stepping in here! Much appreciated.

Thank you for your patience. The issue has been patched in v5.30.5. Please upgrade to the latest version.

The issue was limited to Windows servers and the user would have to have writing permission. If your server is Linux (most are), you were not affected at all. In any case, it is patched now.

@detoris YARPP does a clean uninstall automatically. Are you seeing any leftover fragments?

Since the program is now being maintained and security gaps are being eliminated, the deinstallation has taken care of it for the time being. I’ll keep that in mind for the future though.
    Thanks very much
