• I was trying to take my site off-line temporarily so I could work on it, buy a new domain name and re-launch it. I wasn’t sure how to do that but heard that If you alter the URL a bit people will get an error message when they try to go to that site.
So, that’s what I did and now I can’t even access my site to update it. It gives ME the error message too!

    My site WAS yourskinlab.com but I changed it to a non-existing skinlab.com.
(stupid idea…. I know this now.)

Does anyone know how I can access my site to I can put the “your” back in? I have hosting with BlueHost.. maybe I can access it through there, but I don’t know how.

Any suggestions would be super helpful! Thank you!!!!

  • YOu can, and must, fix it through Bluehost! Through the database, or in the files. (I prefer directly in the DB)

THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH!!! I did it directly in the DB. It worked beautifully! And much easier than I was expecting! I can’t tell you how appreciative I am!!

You’re welcome! I’m glad that worked.

There are plugins available which hide your website and provide a splash screen to visitors, but allow you to see what it looks like when signed in as the admin. Handy for upgrades/redesign stuff.

Oh that’s great! Now that I know that kind of thing exists, I’ll look through WordPress and find a plugin for it. Can’t be too hard.
Thank you for all of your help!! Happy New Year! ??
