Obviously when you write a new post there isn’t a drop down menu in the admin post page to select a parent, unlike when you create a new page. Is there a plugin that will allow me to assign articles to a parent page?

For example, I have a page called ‘Work’ with static content on. My theme is setup to add a new piece of work using Posts and not pages. Using the new Menus option in WordPress v3 I would like to assign each new piece of work to sit under the ‘Work’ parent. How can I do this?

For reference, I don’t want all work posts to be displayed in the navigation is any form, I just want the children of the ‘Work’ page to be a bunch of posts. I’d also just like to have my “.current-menu-item a” styles to be applied to the ‘Work’ link when viewing a work post.

I hope that makes sense ??

  • Regarding the navigation theres a custom links option in the new menu system, you could just add the posts you want to feature under work as custom links?

Sorry if i’m not understanding your question properly

Unfortunately this isn’t what I require. I suppose my emphasis is on the breadcrumb, ideally I’d like the URL to read https://mydomain.com/work/example-work-post

Has anyone got any ideas at all?

    Fixed.

I did a few CSS workarounds and PHP if statements in the header to achieve my desired outcome in the end.

    Hi egr102,

I am looking for the same thing. Care to share your solution?
