    Hi There,

I would like to add links to the caption text of my NextGEN lightboxes.

Using html link tags in the description field seems to work (ex. Caption Text). However the links open in separate browser tabs, and I’d like them to open in the same tab. I have tried adding target=”_self” to the tag, but that doesn’t seem to work.

How can I add links to captions and have them open in the same tab?

    Thanks!

Unfortunately, this will not be possible since NextGen is pretty restrictive with the HTML tags’ parameters and many of those are getting filtered out for the security reasons.

    Thanks for your understanding

Hi and thanks for your response.

Can you please tell me what you mean by ‘many of those are getting filtered out for the security reasons’?

ie – Do you mean the current functionality of being able to add html tags to the description field will be going away? Or do you mean that many html tags parameters are already filtered out but the current functionality will not be changing?

    Thanks

Well, some of the tag parameters are being purposefully filtered/removed in the save process for various reasons but I must correct myself since it actually looks like target parameter is being allowed.

Note that you will have to use target=”blank” and not target=”_self” for the image’s Description to allow the link open into a new tab.

    Hope this helps
