• Hi.
Hope this is the right forum..

I have just started out in WP so please bare with me.

I am trying to build a photography site to show off my amazing (err) photographs

I have looked around and there is an option to “save for web” in Photoshop. But I cant see a way of doing that to multiple photographs

In Lightroom there is a way.

So what would people recommend as the best (max) size for photographs if I were to use the Lightroom option?

Hope that makes sense many thanks,
    DJ

Thanks. I cant access your site on that url.

As of 2018, I would do as follow: Synchronize your selection of photos in Lightroom to WordPress with WP/LR Sync. And then…

    – Optimize your images but ONLY for your visitors (so they are kept unchanged on your server – in case you need better quality, you can do this instantly). You can do that with Optimole, ImageKit, or other CDN which also handles optimization.

    OR

    – Optimize your images locally, with EWWW for example. In case you want to change the quality to a better one on the future, you can always re-synchronize with WP/LR Sync after changing the quality settings in Lightroom.

Thanks .. the WP/LR approach looks good. I was completely sold on it until I read that I need to buy a license to get it to fully work:

Once you’ve got the WordPress plugin installed and set up, you’ll need to help it talk to Lightroom using a dedicated plugin. This can be downloaded from the Meow Apps website, and you’ll need to purchase a license if you wish to continue past the seven day trial.

    It’s $24 a year.

I doubt there is a trial for this plugin, where did you see that? It’s actually mine. But if you want to have a clean process between Lightroom and WordPress, it’s the way to go.

Without it, it’s fine as well, but then you need to be careful about uploading the right files the very first time. And in that case, I would avoid changing the quality of them on your own install, otherwise, there will be no way of going back… except reuploading everything again, and having to relink all the references to those files.

If you don’t know WordPress well, it might worth asking an expert (or better, a friend-expert) to study all that with you ??
