• I have a weekly Post Notification setup to include Custom Posts (i.e. those added since last week).

I understand from your help text that if I make a change (e.g. an improvement) to it, it will re-start by including ALL * custom posts (not just those added since last week).

    How can I avoid this?

    • * Only a few custom posts get added each week, but there are hundreds in history!

    Hello there @baz74 ,

Thank you for reaching out! I’d be happy to clarify how Post Notifications handle updates to previously published posts.

Currently, updating an already published post does not trigger the Post Notification. This is because the system is designed to only include new posts that meet the criteria you’ve set.

If you’d like to re-send a previously published post as part of your notification, you’ll need to publish it as a new post. This ensures that it gets treated as a fresh addition and included in your Post Notification.

I hope this helps clarify things!

thank you for replying, but you have answered a different question.

I am asking about changes to the POST NOTIFICATION, not changes to an individual post.

    Hi there,

When you first activate a new Post Notification email, it will send out recent posts up to the configured number — for example if you have it set to include the “3 latest posts”, then it will send out the last three posts.

However after that, it will only include new posts that have been published since the last time it sent, even if you deactivate and reactivate it. More info about the expected behavior with Post Notification emails available here: https://kb.mailpoet.com/article/238-faq-post-notifications

Please confirm what happens when the Post Notification is changed/enhanced.
Does the next email just include the posts added since?
Or does it include all posts (well up to whatever limit is set)?
Does it start a new History?

    Hello again @baz74 ,

Thank you for reaching out! I’d be happy to clarify what happens when a Post Notification is changed or enhanced.

When you make changes to a Post Notification, here’s how it works:

    1. Next Email Content:
      • The next email will include only the posts added since the last email was sent (up to the post limit you’ve set).
      • It doesn’t resend all posts unless the notification is set to do so.
    2. History:
      • Changing or enhancing a Post Notification does not create a new history. The existing history remains intact, and the notification continues to track the posts it has already sent.

You can find more details in our guide here: FAQ: Post Notifications.
