How adding meta tag description to tags pages?

WordPress does not add any meta tags by default. Try installing a suitable SEO plugin.

as i add on my heather.php file a row of php code for adding the description on category pages, i thought it was possible do the same for tags pages without a plugin…

So,
my WP Theme ( and maybe the defalut WP Theme) has the chance to add a description to each category; that category is not added to the concerning category page.

So i add a very simple php row on my heather.php file for adding the following meta tag description to category page:
<meta name="description" content=" customer description"/>

So i wish do the same for the tags pages putting the description of Posts Tags of WP Theme inside the meta section of tags pages.

There is no description field available in WordPress core for tag pages.
